Job description
About the role
The Service Manager oversees shop operations and directs the flow of scheduled work using Shop Monkey, the digital shop management software.
Responsibilities
- Implement and execute company shop procedures and policies, and ensure shop safety procedures are followed.
- Instruct, coach, train, and manage shop technicians to support consistent procedures and a clean, safe work environment.
- Inspect shop tools and equipment daily, arrange maintenance for missing or broken equipment, and keep store management informed of equipment needs and service requirements.
- Review Shop Monkey procedures and ensure technicians document all required fields.
- Implement and execute required TIA, ALI, and company shop guidelines. Enforce PPE and safety policies, including safety glasses, gloves, torque procedures, and lifting procedures.
- Oversee the technician’s first torque procedure, perform the manager’s secondary torque on vehicles, and verify completion of the figure after the technician’s first torque.
- Order products for services and installs through 1st Call and vendors; store-stock items are excluded.
- Complete the shop staff work schedule and assist with hiring and recruiting shop personnel.
- Train shop technicians and receive service-related products ordered for installs.
- Assist management with return-to-vendor paperwork and maintain the binder for customer special orders, such as center caps or wheel replacements.
- Complete weekly company truck maintenance and inspections in Shop Monkey.
