About the role

Social Development is recruiting Social Workers for its teams in the Miramichi and Neguac regions of New Brunswick. The Department of Social Development provides programs and services to children, families, seniors, and persons with disabilities.

Permanent full-time and temporary opportunities are available in on-going child protection, child protection investigations, and child in care/adoption. Opportunities are open to recent graduates and practicing Social Workers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessment, counselling, intervention, mediation, case management, and report writing across a variety of services.
  • Work across front-line community services, social services, child welfare, and adult and senior services.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, professionals, community and volunteer agencies, government departments, and the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Be actively registered with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW).
  • Successfully complete Criminal History Clearance.
  • Successfully complete an SD Record Check under the Family Services Act prior to appointment.
  • Some positions require written and spoken competence in both French and English; others require written and spoken competence in English only. Indicate your language capabilities when applying.

Employees assigned to Child Protection Investigations or On-going Child Protection on a regular and continuous basis will receive a 15% premium.
