Solutions Mechanical Engineer - Liquid Cooling TCSSFN

About the role

Vertiv is seeking a Solutions Mechanical Engineer with experience in Technical Cooling Systems (TCS), Secondary Fluid Networks (SFN), or related piping and fluid systems such as HVAC, hydronics, and process cooling. The role involves designing and delivering custom solutions and supporting customer orders from initial quote preparation through production-ready designs. It includes working globally with customers, offering management, and suppliers.

Create rapid concept layouts using configurator and automation tools, then refine them into manufacturable solutions. Engage suppliers early to balance cost, quality, and lead time, align layouts with customer requirements, and feed lessons learned into NPDI standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and offering management to define system requirements, design criteria, and constraints.
• Generate rapid TCS/SFN concept layouts, including piping, manifolds, valves, clamps, and fittings, to support timely and accurate quote preparation.
• Use and help refine rapid layout and quoting tools to streamline CPQ integration and improve proposal speed and accuracy.
• Translate concept layouts into manufacturable designs using company standards and supplier capabilities.
• Work with suppliers early to confirm manufacturability, cost targets, and lead times. Validate final builds through pressure and leak testing, cleanliness verification, and quality checks.
• Oversee the transition from concept to production, including documentation, BOM creation, and engineering change management in PLM systems such as Oracle PD Cloud and Windchill.
• Capture lessons learned and integrate improvements into standard NPDI TCS/SFN modules and design practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 plus years of experience in piping and fluid systems, preferably in data center liquid cooling, HVAC, or hydronics.
