Job description

Role Summary Owns the end-to-end Splunk infrastructure lifecycle — from building distributed clusters from scratch on-prem to planning and executing migrations to Splunk Cloud. Responsible for architecture, scalability, and ongoing infrastructure enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and deploy Splunk architecture from the ground up: indexer clusters, search head clusters, deployment servers, license manager, cluster master/manager node
Plan capacity, sizing, and topology for on-prem and hybrid environments
Lead and execute migration projects from on-prem Splunk Enterprise to Splunk Cloud Platform (ingest actions with required forwarders, data pipeline redesign)
Configure and manage indexer/search head clustering, replication factor, search factor, and multi-site clustering
Manage forwarder deployment (UF/HF/LWF), deployment apps, and server classes at scale
Handle HW/SW upgrades, patching, backup/DR strategy, and performance tuning
Continuously enhance infrastructure: storage optimization , index lifecycle management, high availability

Required Skills
Deep expertise in distributed Splunk architecture (clustering, replication, load balancing)
Hands-on experience with Splunk Cloud onboarding/migration methodology
Linux administration, networking fundamentals, storage (SAN/NAS, SmartStore/S3)
Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet/Chef) for deployment is a plus
Familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP for cloud-hosted infrastructure components

Splunk Experience: 3–5+ years, including at least one full cluster build-out from scratch and one on-prem-to-cloud migration project
