Job description
About the role
Thinkviaai is seeking a professional to own the end-to-end Splunk infrastructure lifecycle, from building distributed clusters on-prem to planning and executing migrations to Splunk Cloud. The role is responsible for architecture, scalability, and ongoing infrastructure enhancement.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy Splunk architecture, including indexer clusters, search head clusters, deployment servers, license manager, and cluster master/manager node.
- Plan capacity, sizing, and topology for on-prem and hybrid environments.
- Lead migrations from on-prem Splunk Enterprise to Splunk Cloud Platform, including ingest actions with required forwarders and data pipeline redesign.
- Manage clustering, replication factor, search factor, and multi-site clustering.
- Manage forwarder deployment (UF/HF/LWF), deployment apps, and server classes at scale.
- Handle hardware and software upgrades, patching, backup and disaster recovery strategy, and performance tuning.
- Enhance infrastructure through storage optimization, index lifecycle management, and high availability.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in distributed Splunk architecture, including clustering, replication, and load balancing.
- Hands-on experience with Splunk Cloud onboarding and migration methodology.
- Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and storage experience with SAN/NAS and SmartStore/S3.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef for deployment is a plus.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP for cloud-hosted infrastructure components.
- 3–5+ years of Splunk experience, including at least one full cluster build-out from scratch and one on-prem-to-cloud migration project.
- Preferred certifications or course completion: Splunk Enterprise Admin and Splunk Cloud Admin.
