Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the books and records of financial statements are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with the Company’s consolidation policies and procedures for reporting to the parent company. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing month-end closing, processing Nexion agent commission, and assisting with annual audit. This position interacts with all levels of employees internally and with suppliers/advisors externally, as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for month-end closing entries, but not limited to:o GAAP commission entries (recording commission revenues based on travel dates).o Commission and agent cost of revenue accruals.o Commission deferred revenue and prepaid commission analysis.o Monthly gross up entries of total transaction value (TTV) against gross commissions.o Monthly intercompany reconciliations.• Responsible for preparing audit backup for revenue selections for the annual financial audit.• Assist with the reconciliation and accruals for event revenue and expenses.• Assist with maintaining balance sheet account recs.• Backup for processing Nexion agent commission.• Other special projects and ad hoc support as required.
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.• Must have a strong understanding of GAAP.• Four plus years of progressive accounting experience.• Must be a self-motivated team player with the ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision.• Deadline oriented with a problem-solving skill set and keen attention to detail.• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers, both in writing and verbally, in a clear professional manner.• Must be able to effectively multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, take initiative, and follow-up to ensure a high level of service to our internal and external customers.• Ability to adapt to new assignments in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to seamlessly work between multiple ERP systems. AgentMate and/or NetSuite experience a plus.• Must be proficient in MS Excel.
