Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions including bank reconciliation, month end closing, fixed asset and general ledger support. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the timely, complete and accurate accounting and reporting of their assigned monthly financial close tasks and in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. The person is responsible forperforming ad hoc business support from the accounting department, as requested throughout the month.
Essential Tasks:
• Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.• Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts and posting reconciling entries. Download large volumes of excel data from the system to support various calculations and account reconciliations.• Assists with month-end, quarter-end and annual closings as assigned. Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts and month-end intercompany account reconciliations.• Monthly P&L analysis for a region of branches and distribution centers• Read and interpret customer agreements and ensure payments are contractually compliant• Ensure all accruals / rebate calculations are updated/reviewed for the month end close process Process payments and reporting to customers for assigned rebates• Research and resolve issues related to customer rebate payments
Qualifications:
• B2 High English Level• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field• Minimum 3 years of prior accounting experience to include general ledger support in a well-established corporate environment.• Retail or Distribution Company experience a plus• Intermediate to advanced level experience with Microsoft Excel, and strong use ofother Microsoft products.• Experience with AS400 system a plus
