Each year, Midwest Equity welcomes a class of interns focused on real estate analysis, legal (L2/L3 students), and accounting/finance, offering direct experience acquiring, managing, and operating commercial real estate investments. The Program Our Summer Internship Program is a structured, multi-week experience built to teach you commercial real estate from the inside. You'll start with a hands-on introduction to how our business works, dive into one of our core departments— with a focus on property management and lease administration, the operational engine behind our portfolio. Along the way you'll be paired with a mentor, take part in lunch-and-learns and leadership roundtables, and finish by presenting a capstone project to our leadership team. What You'll Do -Learn how a real estate portfolio runs day to day — from tenant relationships to property operations and asset performance. -Support our property management and lease administration teams with work orders, vendor coordination, and tenant records. -Get exposure to how leases, recoveries, and reconciliations drive property performance. -Legal will review leases and purchase agreements, particpate in due diligence on acqusitions and be involved in closings and other legal issues that impact real estate and corporate law-Gain an understanding of how operations, accounting, leasing, and asset management are essential pieces that fit together. -Complete a capstone project and present your recommendations to leadership. What We're Looking For -Current juniors and seniors (or recent graduates) pursuing a degree in accounting, real estate, business, analytics, finance, or a related field AND L-2/L-3 students at accredited law schools-Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a professional, customer-service mindset. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative in a fast-paced environment. -Comfort with Microsoft Office; a willingness to learn industry software (Yardi) and tools. -A genuine interest in commercial real estate and a desire to grow with the firm. -A team-first mindset — candidates who have thrived in collaborative, competitive environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
