Systems Engineer – VMware Horizon (Omnissa) | VDI | AutomationLocation: RemoteJob Type: ContractAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with strong expertise in VMware Horizon (Omnissa), App Volumes, and VDI Automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, updating, and automating Horizon desktop images while ensuring seamless application delivery through App Volumes. This role requires a proactive engineer who thrives in optimizing virtual desktop environments through scripting and automation.Key ResponsibilitiesVMware Horizon Image ManagementMaintain, update, and optimize VMware Horizon (Omnissa) desktop images.Apply Windows OS patches, security updates, and software enhancements.Validate updated images in test environments before production deployment.Deploy images using Instant Clones, Horizon Composer, or equivalent technologies.Ensure image consistency, stability, and high availability across the VDI environment.App Volumes AdministrationManage and deploy applications using VMware App Volumes.Create, assign, and maintain application packages for various user groups.Optimize application delivery performance and user experience.Troubleshoot application layering and delivery issues.Automation & Process ImprovementDevelop automation scripts using PowerShell, VMware PowerCLI, and related automation tools.Automate image lifecycle management, application deployments, and routine administrative tasks.Design automated workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.Implement monitoring, reporting, and process improvements for automated operations.System Administration & SupportAdminister Windows Server environments and Active Directory.Manage Group Policies (GPOs) and support enterprise authentication services.Troubleshoot VMware Horizon, App Volumes, Windows, and networking issues.Collaborate with infrastructure and support teams to maintain a secure and reliable VDI platform.Required SkillsStrong experience with VMware Horizon (Omnissa) administrationHands-on expertise with VMware App VolumesExperience managing VDI environmentsStrong scripting skills in PowerShell and VMware PowerCLIWindows Server AdministrationActive Directory & Group Policy ManagementVMware Instant Clones / Horizon ComposerVirtual Desktop Image ManagementApplication Packaging & DeliveryMonitoring, Performance Tuning & TroubleshootingNetworking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)Preferred QualificationsExperience with enterprise-scale VDI deployments.Knowledge of workflow automation and infrastructure automation frameworks.VMware certifications are a plus.Experience with enterprise monitoring and reporting tools.
