About the Role
Join a surgical team providing care for conditions affecting the heart, lungs, esophagus, and blood vessels. The role involves evaluating patients, recommending and performing appropriate procedures, and supporting patients and families throughout treatment and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Review patient histories and conduct consultations and diagnostic evaluations before surgery.
- Treat conditions involving the heart, lungs, esophagus, and blood vessels.
- Perform thoracic procedures, including transplants and tumor removals, as appropriate to clinical qualifications.
- Coordinate care with physicians and other specialists.
- Explain surgical risks, answer patient questions, and address concerns.
- Arrange follow-up appointments and monitor patient progress.
- Maintain accurate patient and procedure records.
- Stay current with developments in thoracic surgery and medicine.
- Build rapport with patients and provide support to their families.
Qualifications
- Medical doctorate with specialization in thoracic surgery.
- Valid medical license and relevant certification.
- Completed residency training and several years of experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and willingness to support other physicians.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to ongoing learning; published research or academic work is a plus.
