About the role
Sloan has an opening for a Tool Designer in Franklin Park, United States. The role designs and modifies manufacturing tooling to support production operations, translating manufacturing and design intent into robust, safe, manufacturable solutions for efficient, repeatable production.
Sloan is a manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems and provides sustainable restroom solutions, including water-efficient products and vitreous china fixtures for commercial, industrial and institutional markets worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Own assigned tool design requests from receipt through final release, managing scope, priorities and follow-up.
- Collaborate with requestors and cross-functional teams to understand design intent, application requirements, equipment interfaces and process constraints.
- Review production equipment, manufacturing processes and existing tooling for functional, safety, ergonomic and operational considerations.
- Develop 3D CAD models for fixtures, cutting tools, work holding, gages and other manufacturing aids.
- Review design concepts with stakeholders, revise as needed and obtain approval before release.
- Produce accurate engineering drawings and bills of material that conform to company and industry standards and best drafting practices.
- Prepare tool layouts identifying tooling, cutting sequences and station-by-station operations for production equipment.
