Accounting Specialist

About the role

The Office Gurus is looking for an Accounting Advisor to support small businesses and entrepreneurs with accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information. The role includes monthly bookkeeping, maintaining financial records, supporting payroll and tax-related processes, and preparing accurate books for year-end reporting.

Responsibilities

• Categorize and maintain financial transactions in Xero.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and other financial accounts.
• Prepare and review Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements.
• Review payroll and tax-related information using Gusto.
• Complete monthly bookkeeping close activities for a high volume of accounts.
• Manage up to 100 accounts per month while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with accounting teams and advisors to maintain high-quality financial records.
• Provide professional, clear, and helpful client support via email.
• Identify discrepancies or issues and escalate them appropriately.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience supporting U.S.-based or multinational clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, tax principles, or SOX compliance is an advantage.
• Strong ability to manage high-volume workloads and competing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong written English and professional communication skills.
• A customer-focused mindset and the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
• High levels of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
