Associate Design Drafter

About the role

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking an individual contributor for its Telecom Engineering group in Apodaca, Mexico. The role processes customer orders for production and customer submittal drawings, following Valmont standard practices for work of low to moderate complexity. It prepares drawings using 2D and 3D modeling techniques and supports communication between departments and manufacturing facilities.

The role reports to the site Drafting Supervisor and has no direct or indirect reports. Occasional travel to the US is required. Limited customer contact may support the design and order process.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret customer order information.
• Prepare 2D and 3D drawings based on customer order specifications.
• Investigate and analyze design problems, and determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project demands.
• Make sketches for use by other designers and drafters.
• Interpret specifications and standards, and provide information to help ensure customer requirements are met or improved.
• Requisition parts and products used in or interacting with company products.
• Prepare lists and quantities for use by others in purchasing.
• Discuss assignment details with engineers, production supervisors, customers, and suppliers, and prepare sketches and drawings for manufacturing.
• Work with other departments on customer order and manufacturing problems under the guidance of the Site Drafting Manager or Drafting Supervisor.
