MAJOR DUTIES:The primary focus of this position is to participate in the design and implementation of complex industrial automation solutions across multiple technologies and platforms (e.g., PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS, edge devices, MES, data management, vision systems, robotics) for leading companies in the life sciences and other manufacturing industries.
As an Automation Engineer, you will apply a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a variety of assignments, exercising judgment in selecting appropriate methods to address technical complexity. This role works within a multidisciplinary team that integrates technology and business expertise to deliver professional automation solutions
ResponsibilitiesPerform site surveys and support requirements definitionDesign, develop, and implement process, utility and building control systems in support of manufacturing operationsSupport the project team with the development of functional specifications and detailed design specifications for hardware and software system solutionsSupport the development of the required test plan, test scripts, test protocols, and test reportsBuild and qualify software development and production system environmentsPerform the installation and start-up of systems or applications, remotely or at the customer siteExecute testing and qualification activities in respect with the industry rules and regulationReport to the Technical Lead on project progress and issuesProvide post implementation support and training to clients
Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Other training and relevant professional experience will be consideredMinimum of 5 years of experience with the deployment of industrial automation solutions (hardware and software) and practical experience with activities such as design specifications, software development, acceptance testing, commissioning, and qualificationExperience with the design and deployment of industrial network infrastructure and IIoT solutions preferredTechnical knowledge and practical experience with at least one industrial platform solution from Rockwell, Aveva or Siemens, formal certification preferredFamiliar with agile software development methodologies (processes and standards),Knowledgeable in relational databases and programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagram, Structured Text, Python, C#/C++, MS SQL, etc.,Strong analytical and troubleshooting skillsGood communicator, fluent in English, spoken and writtenExperience with the regulated industry requirements preferredWilling to travel to manufacturing/customer sites when required

Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental proceduresRefrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methodsReport any unsafe conditions or unsafe actsReport defect in any equipment or protective deviceEnsure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasksAttend all required health, safety, and environmental trainingReport any accidents/incidents to supervisorAssist in investigating accidents/incidentsRefrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct
