About the role
Heraeus Medevio is seeking an Automation Engineer II to develop, implement, and improve automation and fixturing solutions for medical device manufacturing processes. The role independently leads projects involving automated equipment, smart fixtures, manual fixtures, robotics, PLCs, motion control, machine vision, and process automation, from concept and design through implementation, validation, and production support.
The position works closely with R&D, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and external suppliers to develop safe, reliable, scalable, and compliant manufacturing solutions that improve process capability, quality, productivity, throughput, ergonomics, and cost while meeting medical device regulatory and quality-system requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop, program, integrate, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, vision, sensors, industrial communications, smart fixtures, and manual fixtures.
- Keep the budget and CAPEX under control.
- Support automation and fixture development projects from concept through design, prototyping, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, and production implementation.
- Support process development, characterization, optimization, and validation through the design and implementation of smart and manual fixtures.
- Troubleshoot complex automation, equipment, smart fixture, and manual fixture issues; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with R&D, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and suppliers; establish automation and fixturing standards and maintain technical documentation.
- Develop processes, documentation, and records after production release, ensuring manufacturing and quality regulations are met.
