Currently, they are in search of an Automation Manager with expertise in the cable assembly industry to join their operations in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. The focus will be on manufacturing High-Speed Cable Products, with a primary focus on e-vehicles, energy storage, and consumer goods. Their manufacturing plant has high-speed automated production lines that require availability for support during critical situations.
THE POSITIONAutomation Systems LeadershipThis role will oversee the performance, stability, and reliability of 9 automated production linesManage PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and motion control systems. Will ensure proper documentation, backups, and version control of automation programs.Operational ExcellenceWill drive sustainable improvements in OEE (availability, performance, quality)Reduce downtime through root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actionsProvide advanced technical support for critical and complex issuesContinuous ImprovementLead Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and advanced automation initiativesIncrease throughput, efficiency, and yield in high-speed processesStandardize best practices across all 9 linesProject ManagementLead automation projects, transfers, upgrades, and line expansionsCoordinate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and external vendorsEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance targetsTeam LeadershipLead, develop, and evaluate automation engineers and techniciansBuild a high-performance team focused on rapid problem-solvingDefine KPIs and ensure consistent performance trackingPreventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop and implement automation-focused preventive maintenance strategiesIntegrate predictive tools to minimize unplanned downtimeSafety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with safety standards (LOTO, machine guarding, electrical standards)Support internal and external audits

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field8+ years of experience in industrial automation and experience in a similar role such as Automation Manager, Automation Leader, or similar.Strong experience with: PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), Industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, or similar), Vision systems, Servo and Motion Control Systems.Experience in high-speed manufacturing (preferably cable, harness, or electronics)Proven experience leading technical teamsFluent in English and Spanish
Preferred QualificationsExperience with high-speed cable manufacturing and electrical performance requirementsExperience with automation and equipment integrationStrong understanding of ESD requirements and controlled manufacturing environments
