Autonomous Robotics Engineer

About the role

Automata Robotics is looking for an Autonomous Robotics Engineer to contribute to the development of autonomous robotic systems. The role spans robotics software, perception, navigation, control, and hardware integration, with a focus on practical engineering and system-level problem solving.

The work includes developing, testing, and deploying algorithms on real robotic platforms. The position is full-time in Zapopan, Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate robotic systems using ROS 2.
• Implement and test localization, SLAM, navigation, and motion planning algorithms.
• Work with LiDAR, RGB-D/stereo cameras, IMUs, and encoders.
• Develop robot control and autonomous behavior for mobile robotic platforms.
• Integrate software with embedded systems, actuators, motor controllers, and robotic hardware.
• Develop and validate systems in simulation and on physical robots.
• Debug hardware–software integration issues.
• Document, test, and maintain robotics software.

Requirements

• Background in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with C++ and/or Python, ROS or ROS 2, Linux, and Git.
• Understanding of robotics fundamentals, including coordinate frames, kinematics, control, localization, and sensor fusion.
• Experience with SLAM, Nav2, Gazebo, MoveIt, computer vision, or autonomous navigation is a plus.
• Experience deploying software on NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded computing platforms is a plus.
• Professional experience in every listed technology is not required if you can demonstrate relevant robotics projects, research, or technical work.
