Backend Engineer (TypeScript&Python)/ AI Engineer CloudGeometry is a Silicon Valley-based cloud-native system integrator with deep expertise in AWS and the CNCF technology stack. We partner with industry leaders like AWS, Google, and Databricks to deliver solutions across the modern technology stack, from generative UI to Kubernetes-powered MLOps workloads, for leading tech companies and VC-funded startups.We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in the AWS and Databricks ecosystems to join our flagship project: a cutting-edge Data Platform for the life sciences industry. This platform supports global leaders such as Pfizer, Moderna, and Novartis in developing innovative RNA-based solutions using cloud computing and advanced AI capabilities. This role offers an experienced engineer a unique opportunity to play a key technical leadership role in the rapidly evolving world of AI-driven solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Leadership: Senior-level autonomy to challenge decisions, propose architectural improvements, and lead technical architecture discussions across engineering, product, and data teams to design scalable backend and analytics solutions.Pipelines & Distributed Systems: Design, build, and optimize high-performance data pipelines, asynchronous workflows, and service-to-service integrations.Observability & Attribution: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive observability across the platform, including monitoring, metrics, tracing, logs, and cost attribution.Data Ingestion: Implement data ingestion mechanisms from diverse sources into operational data stores and analytics layers.Agile Execution: Actively participate in daily Scrum ceremonies with a globally distributed engineering team.Technical Requirements & StackCore Systems & InfrastructureBackend Development (Python/TypeScript): Strong production backend experience using Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, including building high-performance REST APIs. Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable production code.Security & Multi-tenancy: Familiarity with authentication, authorization (JWT, API security), and multi-tenant systems.Data Stores & Modeling: Practical knowledge of databases ( DynamoDB), cloud storage, and effective data modeling.DevOps & Containers: Expertise with Docker, containers, and deployment pipelines (including Git & CI/CD) to ensure environment parity (local, CI, AWS).Cloud-Native & Data PlatformAWS Cloud Architecture: Solid understanding of AWS cloud architecture, including scalable infrastructure platform management (ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, SQS, SNS, etc.).Databricks/MLOps Ecosystem (CRITICAL): Extensive, hands-on experience with Databricks, MLflow, Unity Catalog, and Model Registry. Practical experience with MLOps, model deployment, and model lifecycle management.QualificationsExperience: 5+ years in software development with a focus on production backend engineering or data platform teams.Databricks Ecosystem: 2+ years of hands-on experience with the Databricks platform and modern lakehouse architectures.Communication: Exceptional English skills with the ability to articulate architectural patterns and build strong cross-functional rapport for working with international teams.Teamwork & Schedule: Proven success in distributed high-tech environments or startups using Agile/Scrum. Required online availability from 9 AM to 5 PM EST.Nice to HaveGenerative AI/ML: Knowledge of LLMs, agents, tool/function calling, and RAG.Domain & Tooling: Experience working with scientific data, regulated environments, or data platforms.
