Descripción del empleo

*Non-bilingual candidates won't be considered for this position* Available Schedules: Monday AMTuesday AMWednesday AMThursday AMFriday AMSaturday off all day after 0700 AMSunday off all day. Night Operations CoordinatorPosition SummarySmart Shore Group supports a leading U.S. transportation company operating a modern, clean-energy fleet and moving dry van freight for national shippers. The client’s office closes at 5:00 pm, but their trucks keep running all night. This role is the night desk. You are the voice our drivers hear at 2:00 am. You are the person a customer reaches when a delivery is going to be late. You are the one who catches a problem at midnight so it is already handled by the time the day team walks in.This is not a load planning seat. You are not booking freight and you are not reassigning loads on your own. The plan is already built when your shift starts. Your job is to keep the drivers on that plan, keep them safe, keep customers informed, and get the right manager involved when something needs a decision. What You Will OwnBe there for the drivers● Stay in contact with every driver running overnight. Regular check-ins throughout the shift, not just when something goes wrong.● Talk with drivers on the road. Long night runs are isolating, and a real conversation keeps a driver alert and connected to the company.● Watch for signs of fatigue. If a driver sounds impaired, drowsy, or off, tell them to shut down and find a safe place to park. Safety comes before the appointment, every time. No delivery is worth a tired driver staying behind the wheel.● Answer the after-hours line. Every call should be answered or returned within 10 minutes.● Help drivers with directions, gate and receiver instructions, appointment times, fuel and CNG station questions, and hours of service questions.Keep customers informed● Give overnight status updates to customers who call or email after hours.● Notify the customer proactively when a load is going to miss its delivery window. They should hear it from us first.● Reschedule delivery appointments when needed and update the load in the TMS so the day team sees the change.Escalate the right things to the right person● Load coverage, replans, and any decision about reassigning freight go to the Dispatch Manager. You do not assign or reassign loads on your own unless instructed to do so.● Driver pay, home time, personal issues, and equipment problems go to the Driver Manager.● Accidents, injuries, DOT stops, and citations follow the safety protocol: driver safety first, then the Safety Manager, then ownership.● Breakdowns: get the driver safe, call the approved road service vendor, then notify the Dispatch Manager and Driver Manager.● Never sit on a problem waiting for morning. If it needs a decision, wake somebody up.Close the loop before you leave● Write the morning handoff note every shift: which trucks are where, what happened overnight, and what the day team needs to pick up first.● Log detention start and stop times and note any delays at shippers and receivers so nothing billable is lost.● Document everything in the TMS as it happens, not from memory at 6:00 am.What This Job Is Not● You are not booking loads.● You are not building the plan or assigning drivers to freight.● You are not making pricing, pay, or hiring decisions.● You are not expected to solve everything alone. Knowing when to escalate is a core part of doing this job well. What We Are Looking ForRequired● Experience in trucking dispatch, driver support, safety, or a similar 24-hour operations role.● Someone who is genuinely good on the phone. Drivers should want to hear from you.● Working knowledge of DOT hours of service and what a fatigued driver sounds like.● Comfortable working in a TMS. LoadStop experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.● Clear written communication. Your handoff note has to make sense to someone who was asleep all night.● Proven ability to work overnight and be reliably awake and reachable for the full shift. This role requires dependable overnight coverage.● Good judgment about when to handle something and when to escalate it.Ability to work afterhours schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays as required. This is an ON-SITE position.Desired Experience Level: Intermediate (3-4 years) Preferred● Bilingual English and Spanish.● Familiarity with U.S. trucking operations and appointment-based deliveries.● Experience with ELD platforms and GPS tracking.● Familiarity with California lanes, Central Valley shippers, and distribution center appointment systems.
