About the role
L.A. Unified Careers is seeking a brass and percussion instrument technician.
Responsibilities
- Repair, overhaul, adjust, tune, wash, and clean brass and percussion instruments, including trumpets, trombones, sousaphones, euphoniums, French horns, tubas, legions, melophones, orchestr bells, song bells, autoharps, drums, tympanies, xylophones, marimbas, and alto tenor horns.
- Perform soft and silver soldering, brazing, and burnishing.
- Replace felt and cork bumpers and pads; repair and replace drumheads, rods, hooks, and snares; tune percussion instruments; and repair instrument cases.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
- Two years of experience in the repair of brass and percussion instruments. Completion of a music instrument repair certificate, diploma, or equivalent credits from an educational institution may substitute for one year of the required experience.
