Caretaker

Seeking caretaker to live year-round on a beautiful, very remote square mile of land in Northern California.

We are None of the Above (NOTA) Ranch, a communally owned property with one full-time and several part-time members on-site. We’re an hour’s drive up a gravel road from the nearest small town.

We’re looking for a caretaker to live full-time on the ranch and do 40 hours per month of invasive species management, house upkeep and repair, and a wide spectrum of land management tasks such as power and water systems maintenance, weather preparation, and road and trail clearing.

Our ideal candidate is a single person or couple comfortable living off-grid far from civilization, with experience maintaining off-grid power and water systems, using and maintaining ranch equipment such as chainsaws and weed whackers, and competent at general construction.

We offer housing in a lovely solar- and hydro-powered cabin with satellite internet access (sufficient for remote work), a propane heater, washer & dryer, flush toilet, and generator. We also provide a stipend for essential expenses and the opportunity to do additional work for individual members at a reasonable hourly rate. We’d prefer someone interested in a long-term position but will start with a three-month trial period with a one-year commitment.
