Role Description The Chemistry Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based at Bavaro Innovation School in La Altagracia, Dominican Republic. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging chemistry lessons aligned with the school’s international curriculum, integrating innovation, technology, and bilingual instruction where appropriate. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching classes, assessing student progress, providing feedback, and maintaining accurate records of grades and performance. The role also involves creating a safe and inclusive laboratory environment, supervising experiments, and promoting environmental awareness and scientific curiosity. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, participate in school meetings and events, communicate regularly with families or guardians, and contribute to extracurricular or interdisciplinary projects that support holistic student development.
Qualifications
Strong subject-matter expertise in Chemistry Education and related sciences (basic understanding of Physics is a plus).Demonstrated ability in Lesson Planning and curriculum implementation for secondary-level students.Proven Teaching skills, including classroom management and student-centered instructional strategies.Effective Communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency or willingness to learn is highly beneficial.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.Prior teaching experience in an international, bilingual, or innovative school setting preferred.Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and hands-on experimental teaching methods.Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and to fostering global citizenship and environmental awareness.Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and engage in continuous professional development.
