Civil Engineer Senior Estimator

Summary/Objective: DYWIDAG is a global leader in construction and infrastructure technology, partnering with government agencies, asset owners, contractors, and engineering firms to deliver innovative solutions that support critical infrastructure projects worldwide.
Essential functions:Collaborate with Sales Managers and prepare quotations and respond to pricing inquiries for post-tensioning products from customers across the United States and Canada.Work closely, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Project Management as required.Communicate directly with customers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to clarify scope, technical requirements, and pricing assumptions as required.Perform cost estimates ensuring compliance with engineering principles, project requirements, and company standards.Perform quantity takeoffs and review project drawings and specifications to fully understand project scope and accurately incorporate requirements into quotations.Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production rates, etc.Promote construction best practices and product innovation.Monitor all addendums, scope changes, and breakouts to ensure they are incorporated into the estimate.Compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.Provide guidance and technical support to junior estimators and assist in developing estimating standards, tools, and best practices.Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required education and experience
Advanced English proficiency is required, including the ability to communicate effectively with native English speakers in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. All daily communication, training, and work instructions are conducted in English. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.Bachelor of Science degree in Civil engineering2 – 3 years of experience in construction (ideally on-site or in estimating) or related.Thoroughness, reliability, excellent organizational skills, and a desire and ability to work remotely and independently.Ability to work independently and review and analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities.Highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Office365 software.Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or any estimating software is considered an asset but not mandatory.Excellent math and computational skills.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates.Ability to interpret structural/Project drawings and specifications.Strong attention to detail and thorough review of drawings and notes, ensuring all critical information that may impact the estimate is fully understood and accurately reflected in project costs.Good time-management skillsKnowledge of the different post-tensioning systems and their applications is considered an asset.General Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing is required.
