About the role
Sedgwick is seeking a Claims Adjuster in Puerto Rico to handle losses and claims for property and casualty insurers.
Responsibilities
- Examine insurance policies and other records to determine coverage.
- Interview, telephone, and correspond with claimants and witnesses regarding claims.
- Consult police and hospital records and inspect property damage to determine the extent of liability.
- Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs.
- Prepare findings reports and negotiate settlements with claimants.
- Draft reports and participate in meetings in both Spanish and English.
- Recommend litigation by the legal department when a settlement cannot be negotiated and attend litigation hearings.
- Revise case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.
- Assist in preparing loss experience reports to help determine profitability and calculate adequate future rates.
- Support the organization’s quality program(s), travel as required, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Any license required to adjust claims in Puerto Rico must be current and in good standing.
- Five to seven years of claims adjusting experience, including liability claims experience.
- Financial lines claims experience is preferred.
- Strong experience working within the Puerto Rico insurance market.
- Experience investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving complex claims.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, with verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills; PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products; commitment to timely reporting; and strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
