Overall Responsibility:The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing reliability of Food For The Poor’s Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure. This role serves as a senior technical resource for cloud infrastructure, supporting FFTP’s continued transition from traditional on-premises infrastructure to a secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud-based environment.The position combines hands-on engineering with senior-level technical ownership across Azure infrastructure, networking, identity and access management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, monitoring, CI/CD, disaster recovery, and cloud migration. The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer establishes technical standards and deployment practices, leads complex infrastructure initiatives and troubleshooting efforts, and provides technical guidance to colleagues and leadership. The role works collaboratively across Technology Services while maintaining clear alignment with the respective responsibilities of infrastructure operations, cybersecurity, application development, and project management.
This role is to be hired in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Duties:Cloud Infrastructure Engineering & ModernizationDesign, deploy, configure, administer, and optimize Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, virtual machines, storage, App Services, load balancing, DNS, and related platform services.Lead the development and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep, establishing reusable modules, configuration standards, version control, state management, and consistent deployment practices.Lead the technical execution of cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including workload assessment, dependency mapping, migration planning, testing, and production cutover.Evaluate infrastructure requirements and recommend cloud solutions that balance scalability, performance, resilience, security, operational efficiency, and cost.Support capacity planning, resource optimization, and the continued evolution of FFTP’s cloud infrastructure architecture.

Cloud Operations, Reliability & ResilienceMonitor cloud infrastructure health, performance, availability, capacity, and utilization using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, alerts, dashboards, and related tools.Serve as a senior technical escalation resource for complex infrastructure and production incidents, leading troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of preventive solutions.Develop and maintain operational standards, runbooks, monitoring practices, escalation procedures, and technical documentation that support reliable cloud operations.Maintain and periodically validate infrastructure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities for supported workloads.Participate in on-call support as required to maintain the availability and reliability of critical technology services.
Automation, DevOps & Infrastructure DeliveryDesign, maintain, and enhance infrastructure-related CI/CD capabilities using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, including deployment gates, environment promotion, rollback approaches, and appropriate pipeline controls.Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and recurring operational activities using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, Bicep, or other appropriate technologies.Integrate Infrastructure as Code validation and deployment practices into CI/CD workflows to improve consistency, repeatability, and operational reliability.Partner with application and technology teams to support deployments, troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues, and improve deployment performance and reliability.
Cloud Security, Identity & GovernanceImplement and maintain cloud identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure RBAC, managed identities, and least-privilege principles in alignment with established cybersecurity policies and standards.Administer infrastructure-related Azure security capabilities, including Network Security Groups, Key Vault, secrets and certificate management, and other assigned cloud controls.Partner with Cybersecurity to remediate identified vulnerabilities and configuration risks and provide technical documentation and evidence in support of audit and compliance activities.Maintain and promote cloud governance standards, including resource organization, tagging, naming conventions, configuration consistency, and policy-based controls.Monitor Azure consumption and recommend resource right-sizing, cleanup, scheduling, and other opportunities to optimize cloud costs without compromising service requirements.

Technical Leadership & Continuous ImprovementServe as a senior technical resource for cloud infrastructure, providing guidance on Azure design, modernization, infrastructure risk, technical debt, and emerging improvement opportunities.Lead and contribute to technical design reviews and establish cloud infrastructure standards, patterns, documentation, and engineering best practices.Mentor and provide technical guidance to less-experienced technology team members, promoting knowledge sharing and stronger cloud capabilities across the organization.Communicate infrastructure risks, dependencies, technical recommendations, and solution alternatives effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Champion automation, standardization, documentation, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across cloud infrastructure practices.
EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field required.Relevant Microsoft Azure or cloud certifications are preferred, particularly Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or comparable credentials.
ExperienceMinimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience supporting and engineering cloud infrastructure, including significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and supporting Azure compute, networking, storage, identity, monitoring, and related infrastructure services.Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or comparable technologies.Experience supporting cloud migrations, production infrastructure, incident resolution, automation, and highly available technology environments.Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD technologies and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring colleagues, or serving as a senior escalation resource is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure services, cloud engineering principles, and hybrid/cloud infrastructure environments.Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, automation, Azure networking, monitoring, identity and access management, and cloud governance practices.Strong understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including VNets, subnets, routing, VPN connectivity, load balancing, DNS, and network security controls.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, conduct root-cause analysis, assess technical risk, and develop practical and sustainable solutions.Working knowledge of cloud security principles, disaster recovery, business continuity, CI/CD, observability, and cost-management practices.Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a changing environment.Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with technical teams, organizational leaders, vendors, and other stakeholders.Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship through expertise and influence without requiring formal supervisory authority.Ability to participate in after-hours or on-call support when required to address critical infrastructure incidents or service disruptions.Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Christian values, mission, and ministry of Food For The Poor, conducting responsibilities with integrity, compassion, stewardship, and respect for those served.
