Cloud Security Engineer

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Cloud Security Engineer. The person in this role will design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission-critical systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing cloud architectures for security risks, developing secure configurations and policies, and supporting secure deployment pipelines. The Cloud Security Engineer will collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to embed security best practices into application design, networking, and data handling. The role also involves monitoring for threats, investigating incidents, supporting compliance initiatives, and continuously improving cloud security posture through automation and documentation.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Cybersecurity and Information Security, with practical experience applying security principles in cloud environments.Hands-on skills in Security Engineering, including designing, implementing, and automating security controls for cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).Experience with Application Security practices such as secure coding, code reviews, threat modeling, and use of security testing tools.Knowledge of Network Security, including segmentation, firewall policies, VPNs, TLS, and secure configuration of cloud networking services.Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Benchmarks) and common compliance requirements relevant to financial services.Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines) to implement security as code.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in distributed remote teams.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.Relevant security certifications (e.g., CCSP, CISSP, CISM, GIAC) are beneficial but not required.
