Role Description The Construction Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Lares, PR (with future relocation to Hatillo, PR). This position is responsible for managing project-based accounting, including tracking job costs, preparing and analyzing budgets, and monitoring expenses and revenues for multiple construction contracts. Daily tasks include processing invoices, reviewing and reconciling subcontractor and vendor accounts, preparing financial reports for project managers and leadership, and ensuring accurate and timely entry of transactions in accounting systems. The role also involves supporting payroll and benefits information related to construction projects, supporting audits, and maintaining compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and applicable regulations. The Construction Accountant will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and administrative staff to provide clear financial insights and support effective decision-making.
Qualifications Demonstrated experience in construction or project-based accounting, including job cost tracking and budget management.Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., Sage 50 or similar, Microsoft Excel) and strong data-entry accuracy.Solid understanding of financial reporting, invoicing, reconciliations, and basic tax and compliance requirements related to construction projects.Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work on-site in Lares and Hatillo, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and maintain a professional, detail-oriented approach.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.Prior experience in the construction industry or with public infrastructure contracts is a plus.
