The service we're looking for: We're looking for an independent contractor to provide professional cost-estimating and preconstruction services: accurate, well-supported budgets that give our clients confidence and our team a solid number to build against. This isn't a back-office service — it's a key part of how we win work and protect profit on every custom home we build.
Scope of Services● Building detailed cost estimates from architectural drawings and specifications: quantities, materials, and labor.● Running scope reviews and value engineering to keep projects profitable without cutting corners.● Coordinating the subcontractor bidding/quoting process, comparing pricing to get the best value, and coordinating with the Purchasing team on supplier pricing where needed.● Preparing and presenting proposals, and participating in preconstruction meetings.● Delivering clean, complete, buildable budgets for every project.● Contributing to the development and upkeep of the company's cost database and budget templates.
What You bring:● Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.● Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction cost estimating; custom home experience is a strong plus.● Fluent English and Spanish, written and spoken (bilingual) — direct, frequent coordination with our U.S.-based team.● A sharp eye for translating detailed takeoffs into a realistic, buildable final number — understanding what's included, what's bundled, and what a project truly costs.● Self-motivation and the ability to organize your own time and methods to meet agreed-upon deliverables.● Experience with JobTread or similar estimating software is a plus, not a requirement.
Terms:● Professional services agreement (independent contractor), with no subordination and no fixed schedule imposed by the contracting company.● The contractor independently determines methodology, tools, and time organization to meet the deliverables and deadlines agreed upon in each service order.● Professional Fees: $5,000,000 – $10,000,000 COP/month (commensurate with experience), payable upon submission of an invoice or fee note, as appropriate.● The contractor is responsible for their own social security enrollment and contributions, per applicable regulations.● 100% remote.● The contractor must have their own equipment: a computer, high-speed internet, and a cell phone.● Initial onboarding on the company's estimating platform and methodology, plus access to the supplier network and cost database needed to perform the service.
