Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential, commercial, or industrial construction projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing. This role plays a critical part in supporting successful project planning, budgeting, and bidding efforts.The ideal candidate has strong mathematical and analytical skills, experience interpreting construction drawings, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, vendors, and clients to deliver competitive and accurate estimates. This position is on-site in San Pedro Sula.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.Prepare detailed project estimates, budgets, and bid proposals within established deadlines.Analyze project scope, identify potential risks, and recommend cost-saving opportunities.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify project requirements.Maintain and update pricing databases for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.Compare estimated costs to actual project costs and analyze variances for continuous improvement.Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project handoff meetings as needed.Assist with value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations.Maintain organized documentation of estimates, assumptions, revisions, and supporting calculations.
QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred.2+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related construction role.Experience estimating residential, commercial, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards.Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines.
