Cost Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to join our estimating team. This position is responsible for reviewing construction documents, performing accurate plumbing takeoffs, preparing complete project estimates, communicating with customers, and coordinating pricing with suppliers.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview architectural, plumbing, mechanical, and civil drawingsPerform detailed plumbing takeoffs using **Square Takeoff** software.Calculate pipe run lengths by material, diameter, and routingIdentify, count, and mark all plumbing fixtures, equipment, and systems on construction drawingsInterpret floor plans, plumbing risers, details, schedules, and specifications.Prepare complete plumbing estimates using company pricing standards.Develop clear, professional proposals and bid summaries based on takeoff data.Communicate with customers via email to answer questions, request clarifications, and coordinate bid information.Obtain pricing for specialty equipment such as pumps, water heaters, grease interceptors, booster systems, backflow preventers, and other non-standard materials from approved vendors.Place orders for specialty equipment and materials with pre-approved suppliers after receiving internal approvalReview project specifications, addenda, and bid documents to ensure complete and accurate pricing.Identify discrepancies or missing information within construction documents and communicate findings to the estimating teamMaintain organized electronic takeoff files, estimates, quotations, and vendor correspondence.Work closely with project managers, vendors, and company leadership throughout the bidding process.
Qualifications:3+ years of plumbing estimating, takeoff, or commercial plumbing experience preferred.Strong knowledge of the New Jersey Plumbing Code and standard plumbing installation practices.Experience with **Square Takeoff** or comparable digital takeoff software.Ability to read and interpret architectural, plumbing, and MEP construction drawings.Knowledge of plumbing materials, fixtures, equipment, and installation methods.Strong written communication skills with professional email etiquette.Comfortable obtaining vendor quotations and coordinating material pricing.Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PDF markup software, and standard office applications.Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bid deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:Field plumbing experience is a strong plus.Experience estimating commercial construction projects.Familiarity with pumps, domestic water systems, water heaters, gas piping, sanitary systems, and specialty plumbing equipment.
