Role OverviewWe are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Collections to lead and scale our collections organization. This senior leadership role will be responsible for developing collection strategies, optimizing recovery performance, managing collections operations, and building a high-performing team in a fast-paced fintech environment.The Director of Collections will work closely with Executive Leadership, Risk, Underwriting, and Operations teams to drive portfolio performance while ensuring compliance and maintaining positive customer relationships.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the company's overall collections strategy across early-stage, mid-stage, and late-stage accounts.Lead, mentor, and grow collections management and agent teams, establishing clear KPIs, accountability, and performance standards.Drive portfolio recovery performance by implementing best-in-class collection practices, tools, and workflows.Monitor delinquency trends, recovery rates, roll rates, and other portfolio performance metrics, providing regular reporting to Executive Leadership.Partner with Risk, Underwriting, Operations, and Finance teams to improve portfolio quality and reduce losses.Evaluate and implement technology solutions, automation initiatives, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.Develop forecasting models and staffing plans to support portfolio growth and operational objectives.Present performance results, strategic initiatives, and recommendations to Senior Leadership.
Requirements3+ years of collections experience, preferably within financial services, fintech, lending, MCA, or alternative finance.3+ years of leadership experience managing collections teams, supervisors, or department managers.Deep understanding of collections regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.Strong experience managing key metrics, including delinquency rates, roll rates, charge-offs, and recovery percentages.Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with advanced proficiency in Excel, reporting tools, and data analysis.
