Job Description

SCOPE: The Director of Philanthropy (Regional Major Gifts Officer) is a frontline relationship builder and mission ambassador for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Foundation. This role carries primary responsibility for securing major gifts of $25K to $250K within a designated region of the communities served by Mary Bird Perkins, spanning Greater Baton Rouge, Northshore, and New Orleans, by cultivating deep, trust-based relationships with grateful patients and families and community leaders whose lives have been touched by cancer. Through disciplined moves management and close partnership with physician champions, this director identifies, qualifies, and closes major gifts that expand access to world-class cancer care for the patients and communities we serve.

Essential Functions

Builds and stewards a dynamic portfolio of 75–125 major gift prospects and donors, with a focus on securing and growing gifts at the $25K–$250K level Owns the full donor relationship from qualification through stewardship, with discipline and genuine relationship at the center of every strategy Expands the major gift pipeline through physician champion partnerships, regional advisory council engagement and authentic community presence Maintains timely, accurate donor records in the philanthropy CRM (Virtuous) and actively engages in portfolio reviews to ensure accountability and momentum

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree or CFRE preferredMinimum of 3–5 years of major gift fundraising or philanthropy experience with demonstrated portfolio
