About the role
The Mechanical Engineer I applies engineering principles and practices to mechanical sustaining issues of low to medium complexity. The role focuses on electro-mechanical system design, including power transmission principles, strengths of materials, statics, dynamics, and material science.
Responsibilities
- Perform CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, drafting, and bill of material creation.
- Use basic CAD software knowledge, including Creo, Solid Works, and AutoCAD, to draft components or assemblies.
- Participate in creating prototypes, mockups, or representations to illustrate concepts and ideas.
- Draft engineering validation test plans using basics of FMEA, FEA, tolerance stack up analysis, and statistical analysis tools.
- Collaborate on validation plan execution and participate in resolving arising opportunities.
- Support productivity projects through concept, critical, and final design reviews, proposing material and design alternatives using mechanics of solids principles while maintaining product performance.
- Suggest solutions to product performance issues related to design, customer complaints, and product life cycle, using six sigma problem-solving tools such as DOE, 8D’s, and poka yoke.
- Support potential line down events, including continuity of supply, assembly, and quality problems; this may include participating in evaluations or proposals for alternate materials.
- Resolve and implement corrective action steps when technical problems occur.
- Interact and coordinate with Electrical Engineering, Technical Communications, Marketing, Manufacturing Personnel, Regulatory, and Outside Vendors.
Requirements
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices, power transmission principles, strengths of materials, statics, dynamics, and material science.
- Basic-level CAD software knowledge, including Creo, Solid Works, or AutoCAD.
