We are seeking a meticulous, highly analytical, and strategically minded Financial Controller to oversee our accounting operations and financial reporting functions. Reporting directly to the [CFO/VP of Finance], you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial data, driving the monthly closing processes, maintaining robust internal controls, and providing leadership to our accounting team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate accounting, deep knowledge of GAAP, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership.
Core Responsibilities● Financial Statements: Manage the preparation of accurate, timely, and compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.● Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead and streamline the financial close process, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and variances are properly analyzed.● Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the annual audit process and ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.● Process Improvement: Design, implement, and maintain rigorous internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard corporate assets and minimize risk.● Treasury & Cash Flow: Monitor and manage daily cash flow, liquidity requirements, and banking relationships.● Taxation: Oversee corporate tax compliance and filings, collaborating with external tax advisors as required.● Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with the FP&A team and department heads to develop the annual budget and rolling financial forecasts.● Cost Analysis: Monitor departmental spending and provide variance analysis to help leadership optimize operational efficiency.● Ad-Hoc Reporting: Provide the executive team with custom financial modeling and analysis to support strategic business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, or capital expenditures.● Supervise, mentor, and develop the internal accounting team (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger).
Requirements & Qualifications● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly related quantitative field.● Credentials: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is strongly preferred.● Professional Experience: 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role (such as Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager).● Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365) and advanced Excel capabilities (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).● Deep, comprehensive understanding of GAAP (or IFRS, if applicable).● Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an uncompromising eye for detail.● Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of developing accounting talent.● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
