About the role

Puente Talent Partners is listing a role for a funded startup or PE-backed SMB that has outgrown bookkeeping. The company needs an accounting owner to deliver clean books, on-time closes, and reliable numbers for leadership, boards, auditors, and investors. The role owns accounting from close through reporting and builds the controls and processes needed as the company scales.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and deliver accurate financial statements on time.
• Maintain books under US GAAP, including revenue recognition, accruals, and consolidations.
• Build and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and processes.
• Own accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and cash and reconciliation workflows.
• Prepare reporting packages for leadership, the board, and investors, and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Use AI and modern accounting tools to tighten the close and reduce manual work.

Requirements

• 7+ years in accounting, including experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ownership of a full close cycle for a US company.
• Fluency with modern accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero.

Datos clave

• Full-time, independent contractor.
• Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM CT; 40 hours per week.
• The role owns monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and reporting.
• Requires 7+ years in accounting and knowledge of US GAAP.
