The Freight Manager oversees ocean freight operations, including planning, coordinating, and monitoring import and export shipments to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery. The role includes managing relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners, resolving service issues, and supporting internal stakeholders with shipment status, documentation, and customer service. The Freight Manager will analyze freight performance, optimize routes and costs, ensure adherence to regulatory and trade compliance requirements, and maintain accurate records in logistics systems. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, preparing reports, and driving continuous improvement in freight and logistics processes.Position & Department: Freight Specialist - North AmericaLocation (with address): Mexico (near Motherson locations)Number of Vacancies: 1Is this position budgeted: Yes - Required to support North America Logistics growth, customer expansion, and operational executionBrief Job Description (Key Responsibilities)· Manage day-to-day transportation operations· Oversee shipment execution, tracking, issue resolution, and customer communication· Ensure timely delivery, reporting, invoicing, and billing accuracy· Lead transportation sourcing, RFQs, carrier selection, and contract negotiations· Develop and manage strategic carrier partnerships· Optimize US-Mexico cross-border transportation operations· Monitor carrier performance, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives· Support FTL, LTL, parcel, ocean, and air freight operations· Drive logistics optimization and cost-reduction projects· Provide performance reporting and operational updates to leadership· Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams· Support the growth of SMGCL logistics solutions in North AmericaQualification Preferred· Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.Experience Required· 5-10 years of transportation and supply chain experience required.· US-Mexico cross-border transportation management preferred.Functional Skills / Technical Skills· Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Behavioural Skills Required· Strong negotiation and communication skills
