Join us in designing the grid of the future!Our client is seeking a GIS Automation Engineer to help scale and optimize our geospatial data operations through automation and software development. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who combines strong software engineering skills with a solid understanding of GIS systems and geospatial data workflows.You will play a key role in identifying automation opportunities, developing scalable solutions, and improving operational efficiency across our GIS organization. The successful candidate will leverage technologies such as Python, SQL, ArcPy, REST APIs, and ETL platforms to streamline processes and enhance data quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesHow You Will Make an ImpactCollaborate with GIS Analysts, Software Engineers, and Project Managers to identify automation opportunities and deliver measurable process improvements.Design, develop, and maintain Python-based tools, scripts, and automation workflows for geospatial data processing.Build and configure custom geospatial services, attribute rules, and ArcGIS Workflow Manager solutions to improve data quality and operational consistency.Consolidate workflows across multiple regions into scalable and unified service-based solutions.Develop integrations using REST APIs and other technologies to support GIS operations.Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and best practices that improve team productivity and data accuracy.Support geospatial data integration, migration, and automation initiatives across EPE's consulting and utility operations.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS, Geography, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).3+ years of experience delivering automation, scripting, or software solutions within a GIS or geospatial environment.Strong Python programming experience, including development of production-ready tools and automation workflows.Hands-on experience with:ArcGIS ProArcPyArcGIS REST APIEnterprise GeodatabasesFeature ServicesExperience with Git, version control, code reviews, and software development best practices.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.Professional English proficiency (B2-C1).Preferred QualificationsArcGIS Enterprise administration experience, including:Portal for ArcGISArcGIS ServerArcGIS DatastoreFederated site configurationHosted services managementUser and role administrationStrong SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL preferred), including query optimization, schema design, and stored procedures.Database administration experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server.Experience with:Safe FME (Workbench, Flow, Desktop)ArcGIS Data InteroperabilityCI/CD pipelinesInfrastructure as Code (IaC)Experience supporting electric utility environments or energy sector projects.Knowledge of Utility Network Models, CIM, PSS®E, or related utility technologies.
