About the role

British Council is seeking a market leader for its English & Examinations (E&E) Strategic Business Unit. The role shapes and delivers strategic market plans aligned with organisational priorities, driving growth, sustainability and customer experience.

British Council supports peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide. It works with people in over 200 countries and territories and is on the ground in more than 100 countries.

Responsibilities

• Own market P&L performance, identify and convert revenue opportunities, and lead large, high-performing teams to accelerate commercial growth.
• Oversee business development and partnership strategies to build sustainable, long-term revenue streams.
• Partner with Proposition, Network and Functional teams to translate global strategy into local market success, align priorities and deliver profitable, optimised performance.
• Provide inspirational leadership that enables high performance, fosters an inclusive culture and drives accountability for results.
• Lead and influence teams across a complex matrix environment, aligning colleagues behind a shared vision and empowering them to deliver commercial, operational and customer outcomes.
• Develop and deliver the country's E&E business plan.
