About the Role
The APC engineer is responsible for ensuring the high availability and performance of the main company's web page and mobile applications, including both external and internal business-critical applications. To successfully fulfill this responsibility, candidates must possess strong experience in application performance monitoring, troubleshooting web applications, proactive analysis and triage of monitoring data, and end-to-end incident management. The ideal candidate will be capable of leading major incident response efforts through resolution, driving root cause analysis (RCA) activities to prevent recurrence, identifying and closing observability gaps, and evaluating production changes to ensure adequate monitoring coverage. A solid understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies across the full web application stack is essential. Candidates should demonstrate critical thinking, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills. This includes the ability to rapidly triage issues, assess business impact, clearly communicate incident conditions, and effectively collaborate with engineering and development teams. Additionally, the candidate must be able to prioritize incidents appropriately, drive timely resolution efforts, and minimize disruptions to member experience, business operations, and patient care.
Responsibilities
Monitor web and mobile applications proactively and reactively to ensure high availability and optimal performance for both external customers and internal users while preventing service disruptions.Prioritize and manage incidents effectively to restore services quickly and minimize impact to members, patient care, and business operations.Perform advanced technical troubleshooting and incident triage, leveraging strong analytical skills to identify root causes, assess business impact, and drive timely resolutions.Communicate incident status and technical issues clearly, collaborating closely with engineering, development, and support teams throughout the incident lifecycle.Apply observability and operational best practices, including performance monitoring, event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and reporting, to ensure application reliability and availability.Support the implementation, validation, and operational readiness of application and infrastructure changes, ensuring appropriate monitoring and observability are in place.Recommend and implement improvements to monitoring, reliability, and operational processes, contributing to continuous service improvement and operational excellence.Develop, maintain, and enhance operational documentation, procedures, runbooks, and reporting artifacts to support consistent and effective service operations.Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, adaptability, and professional growth while contributing to team development and operational success.
QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, CIS, or related field and Minimum three (3) years experience in software development or a related field.Additional three (3) years equivalent work experience for a total of six (6) years may be substituted for the degree requirement.3 years minimum experience supporting consumer facing large scale enterprise high availability website like kp.org
Required SkillsExperience monitoring web applications through APM tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Quantum Metric or any other similar observability tool.Experience handling services in Kubernetes environments (rollout restart of pods, manifest, resource assignment).Experience in troubleshooting Front End (Web Page) issues (Devtools, HTML 5, CSS3, etc.).
