The Junior Payroll Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll while ensuring employee information and payroll transactions are properly maintained. This role assists with reviewing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, maintaining records, and responding to employee payroll inquiries. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of payroll, accounting, or related experience, with strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work with confidential information and deadlines.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the accurate and timely processing of payroll.Review and validate payroll information, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, bonuses, reimbursements, and other transactions.Maintain and update employee payroll records, including compensation, deductions, direct deposits, and tax information.Review payroll reports and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies.Process payroll adjustments, corrections, and other payroll transactions as needed.Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits.Coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, and Accounting to ensure accurate payroll information.Assist with payroll reconciliations, reports, audits, and year-end activities.Maintain accurate and organized payroll documentation.Ensure payroll activities follow company policies, internal controls, and applicable payroll regulations.Maintain the confidentiality and security of employee and payroll information.Support process improvements to increase payroll accuracy and efficiency.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.1–3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, human resources, or a related function.Basic knowledge of payroll processes, deductions, taxes, and payroll compliance.Experience with payroll, HRIS, timekeeping, or related systems preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.Ability to organize priorities and meet established deadlines.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
