Lead Android Application Developer

About the role

Luxoft develops software for the automotive industry and helps customers build cars of the future. The role focuses on building and shipping Android applications for automotive infotainment systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end software development for multi-brand OEM apps, integrate backend APIs, and help with test automation.
• Build AAOS apps using modern Android components, in-vehicle HMI requirements, and driving safety constraints such as glanceability and rotary, D-pad, and voice controls.
• Develop clean, testable architecture using MVVM or MVI, coroutines and Flow, and dependency injection with Hilt.
• Implement data and networking layers, including backend APIs, caching with Room or SQLite, error handling, retries, and offline behavior.
• Use Git for feature branches, rebasing and merging, tags and releases; create focused pull requests and provide actionable code review feedback.
• Maintain CI/CD and test automation pipelines with unit and instrumentation tests.
• Work with Android for Cars App Library templates, including media and navigation, and host validation.
• Participate in the agile development process and document architecture, ADRs, risks, and learnings.
• Take technical ownership across multiple APKs and maintain rigorous standards for code coverage and linter quality.

Requirements

• Application development using Java or Kotlin, with a focus on production quality, performance, and compliance with car UX and safety standards.
