Corvia Consulting provides litigation support and case management services to law firms handling personal injury matters. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant / Medical Records Clerk to support attorneys, paralegals, and case managers by obtaining, reviewing, and organizing medical records and case-related documentation.
Position SummaryThe Legal Assistant / Medical Records Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining accurate case files, coordinating medical record requests, and ensuring all records and billing documents are obtained promptly. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with medical terminology, and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesRequest, track, and follow up on medical records and billing statements from healthcare providers.Review records for completeness and identify missing documentation.Upload, organize, and maintain electronic case files.Communicate with medical providers, clients, and legal staff regarding records requests and statuses.Maintain detailed logs of outstanding requests and follow-up efforts.Prepare medical chronologies, treatment summaries, and document indexes when needed.Assist with HIPAA authorizations and records release forms.Support attorneys and case managers with document management and case preparation.Verify accuracy of received records and billing before file submission.Perform general administrative and legal support duties as assigned.
RequiredMinimum 1 year of administrative, medical records, legal assistant, or related experience.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF management software.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
PreferredExperience in personal injury law.Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare records.Experience using case management software (CasePeer, Filevine, Clio, or similar).Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical records retrieval processes.
