Role Description This is a full-time remote position for Medical Interpreters (Spanish-English) providing Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). In this role, team members will facilitate accurate, clear, and impartial communication between healthcare professionals and patients in medical settings, following established protocols and confidentiality standards. Daily responsibilities include interpreting spoken conversations in real time, ensuring meaning and intent are preserved, and using appropriate medical terminology in both Spanish and English. Medical Interpreters will document sessions as required, follow scheduling procedures, and use company platforms and tools to connect with clients. The role also involves participating in ongoing training, staying current with medical terminology and interpreting best practices, and collaborating with coordinators and supervisors to maintain service quality.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Medical Interpretation and general Interpreting for Spanish-English communication.Proficiency in Medical Terminology relevant to hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare environments.Experience or training in Simultaneous Interpretation and consecutive interpreting techniques.Capability to perform Translation of short medical documents or patient information, when needed.Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking skills in both languages.Prior experience as a medical interpreter or in healthcare-related language services is preferred.Knowledge of confidentiality standards, such as HIPAA or equivalent privacy regulations, and professional ethics in interpreting.Reliable high-speed internet, suitable computer or device, and a quiet, professional remote workspace.Relevant certification in medical interpreting or language services (e.g., CMI, CHI, or equivalent) is an advantage.Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
