Mental Health Monitor Sitter

The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter provides continuous observation of patients who are on suicide watch. The responsibilities, or the duties outlined in this job posting are to support mental health; including identifying and reporting incidents, documenting observations accurately, and following established procedures for licensed nursing staff and their instructions from the medical personnel responsible for the unit. The role is critical in maintaining patient safety and supporting mental health care services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide continuous observation of patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or other designated areas
• Monitor patients through observation, observe and document any changes
• Document observations accurately and promptly
• Record behavioral patterns
• Report incidents and concerns immediately to licensed nursing staff
• Follow all instructions and policies provided by medical personnel responsible for the unit
• Promote a safe, calm, and therapeutic environment

REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma or a GED
• Experience monitoring and/or working with patients, mentally ill, with at-risk behaviors, or psychiatric patients, and/or recording findings, or comparable experience
• Minimum of six (6) months of clinical, academic, training, or experience in a medical setting
• Strong documentation and communication skills
