Ashton School Vistacana is looking for a Middle and High School IT Teacher that leads the school’s comprehensive college and career readiness program, guiding students and families through the university application process and helping students discern postsecondary pathways aligned with their gifts, calling, and God’s purpose for their lives.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and implement lessons aligned with the school curriculum and institutional methodologies.Design formative and summative assessments to measure and track student progress.Foster critical thinking, autonomy, and academic responsibility in students.Integrate institutional values and socio-emotional development into the teaching and learning process.Utilize digital resources and educational technology to support student learning.Provide differentiated instruction to students who require extra support or academic scaffolding.Maintain effective and timely communication with families regarding students' academic performance and behavior.Actively participate in department meetings, professional development trainings, extracurricular activities, and school events.Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary integration and achieve shared institutional goals.Maintain up-to-date academic records and comprehensive student progress reports.Educate students on safe, legal, and ethical use of digital tools, including cybersecurity, media literacy, and intellectual property.Design projects that develop students' problem-solving skills through coding, algorithmic thinking, robotics, and logical analysis.Introduce students to the responsible, critical, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in their academic work.Oversee the proper use, organization, and basic troubleshooting of classroom hardware, software, and digital platforms.Act as a resource or mentor for other faculty members looking to integrate tech tools effectively into non-tech subjects (interdisciplinary tech projects).
Profile Requirements:
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a Bachelor’s in Education with a major in Informatics. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in secondary or high school, specifically in IT or Computer Science subjects. Intermediate-advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Desired Qualifications:Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Cybersecurity, or Software Development. Prior experience in international or bilingual schools, particularly teaching curricula like IGCSE Computer Science or AP Computer Science. Mastery of active methodologies, project-based learning (PBL), and robotics or coding instruction.
Core Skills:Strong pedagogical skills and effective classroom management.Ability to motivate and guide adolescents in their holistic (integral) development.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills (with a high sense of responsibility).Adaptability and creativity within the teaching and learning process.Deep commitment to institutional values and the school's mission.
