As a key member of Western Union’s Payroll team based in Buenos Aires (CABA), Argentina, this role plays a critical part in delivering accurate and timely payroll operations, with a primary focus on Mexico payroll and secondary support for Peru payroll. The position is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and driving process standardization and improvements across payroll activities. This role acts as a central point of coordination between internal stakeholders and external vendors, supporting regional payroll efficiency and enhancing employee experience.
Role ResponsibilitiesProcess end-to-end payroll for Mexico in-house using payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and timelinessSupport Peru payroll operations by collecting, validating, and consolidating payroll inputs for external vendor processingEnsure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements across assigned countriesValidate payroll data including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits prior to processingPerform payroll reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actionsMaintain accurate payroll records and documentation in line with audit and compliance standardsAct as a key point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, ensuring timely resolutionDrive process improvements, standardization, and operational efficiency across payroll activitiesCollaborate with HR, Accounting, and external providers to ensure alignment, data accuracy, and timely delivery
Role RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience4+ years of payroll experience with strong hands-on, in-house Mexico payroll processing (mandatory)Solid knowledge of Mexico payroll regulations, compliance, controls, and audit processesExperience supporting multi-country / LATAM payroll operations (Peru is a plus)Proven experience in end-to-end payroll operations, including data validation, reconciliations, issue resolution, reporting, and ability to manage multiple deadlines with high accuracy and ownershipExperience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors (HR, Accounting, Shared Services)Familiarity with OpenHR (preferred), Workday, and HRIS/payroll systems, including exposure to Intermex populationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement mindset, with excellent communication skills and advanced English proficiency (written and verbal)Flexibility to collaborate across LATAM time zones (up to 3-hour difference)
