The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll while ensuring compliance with applicable company policies, procedures, and payroll regulations. This role manages payroll-related data, reviews employee information and transactions, resolves discrepancies, and provides support to employees and internal stakeholders regarding payroll matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with confidential information, deadlines, and high-volume transactional processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcess payroll accurately and within established deadlines.Review and validate employee payroll information, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, and other payroll-related transactions.Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update changes related to compensation, deductions, direct deposits, tax information, and other relevant data.Review payroll reports and identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing.Support payroll adjustments, corrections, off-cycle payments, and other special payroll transactions as needed.Ensure payroll activities are completed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and internal controls.Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and other payroll-related matters in a timely and professional manner.Coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, and other departments to ensure accurate payroll information and resolve discrepancies.Assist with payroll reconciliations and preparation of payroll-related reports.Support year-end payroll activities and required reporting.Maintain organized and accurate payroll documentation for audit and compliance purposes.Protect the confidentiality and security of employee and payroll information.Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.Assist with payroll audits and provide documentation as requested.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Previous experience in payroll, accounting, human resources, or a related administrative function preferred.Knowledge of payroll processes, deductions, taxes, and general payroll compliance requirements.Experience working with payroll, HRIS, timekeeping, or related systems preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.Strong numerical and analytical skills.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
