Career OpportunityPlant Manager II – Site Cartago, Costa RicaAt TekniPlex Healthcare, we are seeking a highly experienced manufacturing leader to join our team as Plant Manager II. This strategic leadership role is responsible for directing all manufacturing operations, driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, developing high-performing teams, and supporting the growth and profitability objectives of the organization. The successful candidate will partner with global and regional leadership teams to drive business results while fostering a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required ProfileGeneral Job DescriptionProvide strategic and hands-on leadership for the daily operation of the Cartago manufacturing facility. Responsible for executing Healthcare Operational Strategy through Operational Excellence systems, techniques, and KPIs while maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People development.This role drives innovation around manufacturing systems and technology and partners with global functions to ensure the facility contributes to overall P&L performance and achieves sales, operational, and profitability objectives. The Plant Manager coordinates all operating departments, including engineering functions, to ensure the facility operates within established plans, budgets, company philosophy, and strategic objectives.The position is also responsible for evaluating manufacturing strategies, annual business goals, operational performance, and long-range capital investment plans while ensuring compliance with local regulations, corporate governance requirements, and industry standards.
EducationBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field required.Advanced degree is considered an asset.
ExperienceMinimum 10 years of operational and manufacturing leadership experience.Experience within Medical Devices, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.Proven experience leading plant operations, strategic planning, and operational execution.Demonstrated success developing high-performing teams and driving organizational alignment.Experience managing budgets, capital investments, operational performance, and business growth initiatives.Strong background leading cross-functional teams and continuous improvement programs.
Knowledge, Training and Specific SkillsStrong knowledge of manufacturing operations within regulated industries.Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and KPI management expertise.Strategic planning and execution capabilities.Financial acumen including budgeting, capital investment justification, and business case development.Knowledge of Quality Systems, Environmental Health & Safety programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate operational and manufacturing data.Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.Ability to formulate, implement, and improve operational strategies, systems, and procedures.Experience interpreting technical information, production metrics, and operational KPIs.Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecute Healthcare Operational Strategy through Operational Excellence systems, methodologies, and KPIs while maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety.Lead all plant operations and operating departments to achieve production, quality, delivery, cost, and profitability objectives.Partner with Commercial teams to drive regional business development initiatives, site expansion opportunities, and capital investment projects.Develop business cases and recommendations for capital investments and present them to senior leadership.Develop action plans to optimize utilization of employees, equipment, and materials while identifying operational opportunities, bottlenecks, and synergies.Evaluate operational performance and provide recommendations supported by financial analysis and data-driven decision making.Establish, implement, and enforce plant-wide safety programs, procedures, and housekeeping standards.Develop, execute, and monitor annual operating plans, budgets, and business objectives.Monitor actual versus planned manufacturing performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Operations, Engineering, Finance, HR, and Commercial teams to achieve business goals.Align manufacturing strategies with inventory requirements, OTIF performance objectives, and supplier variability considerations.Direct production activities to meet customer demand while maximizing efficiency and minimizing operational costs.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, local laws, and corporate governance requirements.Review production costs, inventory control programs, and product quality performance to improve profitability.Analyze operational data and identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.Promote a culture of safety through audits, employee engagement, risk mitigation, and leadership participation.Ensure compliance with the Quality System and support quality-focused initiatives throughout the organization.Lead Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) initiatives to eliminate waste, streamline operations, and improve overall plant performance.Develop and mentor leadership teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives.
