Postdoctoral Fellow

About the role

Instituto Geofísico del Perú seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct experimental and observational research in geophysics and related areas at the Jicamarca Geophysical Observatory facility.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate scientific experiments and measurement campaigns.
• Collect and process data, conduct quantitative analysis, and interpret results.
• Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, and conference presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to ongoing research projects, and support new proposals and funding applications.
• May mentor students and assist with teaching or training in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific methods.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Physics, Geophysics, Atmospheric Science, Space Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong experimental work, instrumentation handling, and safe operation of scientific equipment.
• Research experience designing studies, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting scientific findings.
• Solid knowledge of Physics, especially in areas relevant to geophysics, atmospheric sciences, or space physics.
• Advanced data analysis skills, including statistical methods, modeling, and relevant software tools such as MATLAB, Python, or R.
• Mentoring abilities to support training of students, interns, or junior researchers.
• Ability to collaborate in a diverse, multicultural research environment and communicate clearly in written and spoken scientific English; Spanish language skills are an asset.
