Software Engineer III (Python)
We’re looking for an experienced Python Software Engineer to join our Automation Team. In this role, you’ll design and build robust automation systems that power critical workflows across our power systems consultancy.You’ll work with modern orchestration tools and cloud‑native technologies to create scalable, reusable, and reliable automation solutions. This role includes deploying and managing containerized workloads on Kubernetes, optimizing AWS infrastructure, and collaborating closely with power system engineering teams to identify automation opportunities that improve efficiency and reliability.Your work will directly impact how we scale our consulting operations and deliver value to our customers.
🔧 Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:Write high‑quality Python workflow code to automate power system engineering analysisEnsure code meets team standards, including linting, unit tests, end‑to‑end tests, and security controlsDevelop CI/CD and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) as needed for testing, development, and deploymentParticipate in requirements‑gathering sessions with stakeholders and end‑usersTake part in daily stand‑ups and sprint ceremoniesTrack time as requiredSupport other software development tasks as needed
✅ QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Strong proficiency in Python with experience building production systems and processesHands‑on experience with at least one workflow orchestration engine (Windmill.dev, Temporal, Kestra, or Hatchet)Solid understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestrationPractical experience running production workloads on AWS (EC2 and EKS)Experience with data processing tools such as Pandas, Polars, or DuckDBProficiency using Pydantic for data validation and settings managementExperience with infrastructure‑as‑code and configuration management toolsStrong problem‑solving skills and ability to debug complex distributed systemsExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teamsNice to Have:Experience in the power or energy industryExperience writing Python code for transmission and distribution power solversExperience with Packer and building custom AMIsKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practicesExperience with Terraform or similar infrastructure provisioning toolsBackground in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps
