Team members join a mission-driven school that focuses on both academic success and personal integrity.Role Description The School Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based at Cathedral International School in Santo Domingo Este. The counselor provides daily academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support to students through individual counseling, small-group sessions, and classroom guidance activities. Responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to support student well-being and academic progress. The counselor assists with career awareness and planning, helps students set realistic goals, and connects them with appropriate resources and referrals when necessary. Additional duties include maintaining confidential records, contributing to school-wide wellness initiatives, participating in committees and meetings, and supporting a safe, inclusive, and value-driven school climate.QualificationsDemonstrated skills in Student Counseling, including academic, social, and emotional support for diverse age groups.Strong foundation in Counseling practices, with the ability to conduct individual and group sessions and implement evidence-based interventions.Experience or training in Career Counseling, guiding students in goal setting, academic planning, and exploration of post-secondary options.Academic background in Psychology and practical understanding of child and adolescent development.Knowledge of Mental Health concepts and the ability to identify concerns, provide early support, and refer to specialized services when needed.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.Prior experience as a school counselor or in a student support role, preferably in K–12 settings.Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive situations with care, and uphold professional ethical standards.Organizational and documentation skills, including record-keeping and reporting aligned with school policies.Proficiency in using technology for counseling documentation, communication, and virtual resources.English Proficient is a must.
